Since the first public announcement, fans have been keenly awaiting details regarding Katrina Kaif and Vicky Kaushal’s wedding. Through social media, the couple, who mostly kept their relationship quiet, pleased admirers with pictures of their romance. The Love Story
Vicky Kaushal and Katrina Kaif’s love affair is said to have begun on the set of Karan Johar’s talk show Koffee with Karan. In a 2019 episode of the same show, Kaif expressed her desire in working together with Kaushal. Johar told Kaushal about Kaif’s statement when he later made an appearance on the show, and Kaushal pretended to swoon. The couple was thereafter spotted together at other Bollywood events, which gave rise to speculations about their relationship, although they didn’t formally reveal it until their big day.
Wedding Venue
The elegant Six Senses Fort Barwara in Rajasthan served as the venue for the couple’s nuptials. Once belonged to a Rajasthani royal family, this magnificent 14th-century fort has been beautifully refurbished to become a hotel including 48 freshly designed one-bedroom apartments, five of which are specialty suites. The suites’ modern Rajputana design blends well with the fort’s ancient surroundings. The expansive gardens and courtyards of the property, in addition to the Barwara State Room and Zenana Mahal, provided ideal settings for the wedding festivities.
Pre-Wedding Celebrations:
Civil Ceremony in Mumbai
On December 6, 2021, Vicky Kaushal’s Mumbai home hosted a civil ceremony to officially begin with the pre-wedding celebrations. Along with her mother Suzanne Turquotte and other relatives, Katrina Kaif looked stunning in a white ruffle sari designed by Arpita Mehta.
Pre Wedding Shoot
The couple shared some gorgeous and romantic pictures from their pre-wedding shoot where they look completely enamoured by each other. Styled by Anaita Shroff Adajania, Katrina Kaif was decked up in a floral saree by Sabyasachi. The Sabya bride oozed romance in the nude floral piece with tulle fabric and delicate hand-embroidered flowers. She accessorised her look with a statement diamond choker necklace that featured opals, Russian emeralds and matching earrings also by Sabyasachi. Vicky Kaushal’s look put together by his stylist Amandeep Kaur, involved a powder pink Bangalore silk embroidered sherwani. He styled this with a matching churidar.
Mehendi Ceremony
The pair cherished their mehendi ceremony on December 7, which was bustling with joyful scenes and lively hues. Katrina accessorized her multicolored matka silk lehenga with a Sabyasachi organza dupatta and a patchwork blouse. Navratan-inspired jewelry from Sabyasachi Heritage Jewellery, which included emeralds, uncut diamonds, multicolored sapphires, pearls, spinels, tourmalines, and rubies set in 18k gold, finished off her ensemble. Vicky Kaushal wore a mint silk kurta with embroidered butis, a Bangalore silk ivory salwar, and an embroidered raw silk bandhgala jacket with coromandel chintz designs, all by Sabyasachi. The duo appeared clearly happy, especially when Vicky was Bollywood-style serenading Katrina.
The food menu featured North Indian treats such as kebabs and fish appetizers, along with Rajasthani specialties like Dal Bati Churma with 15 variations of dal. Desserts included Jodhpur’s famous Mawa Kachori and Bikaner’s Gond Pak.
Sangeet Ceremony
December 8 was a night of music, dance, and festivities for the sangeet ceremony. Families and friends of Vicky and Katrina put on spirited dancing performances. Manish Malhotra’s glittering ensemble was lovely on Katrina, and Vicky matched her well in a sleek black sherwani.
Haldi Ceremony
On December 9, early in the morning, the haldi ritual was held. Katrina donned an organza dupatta adorned with gota and marori embroidery and finished with kiran, to go with her ivory organdy lehenga by Sabyasachi. Vicky chose a salwar and an understated yet sophisticated embroidered khadi kurta. The pair was blessed with haldi by family members during a lively and lighthearted event.
Wedding Ceremony
In respect of Kaushal and Kaif’s respective cultural roots, on December 9, 2021, the main wedding ceremony was conducted that included both a white wedding and the conventional Hindu pheras ritual. Katrina donned a traditional red lehenga by Sabyasachi, complete with elaborate embroidery and matching jewelry. Vicky donned a beautiful ivory Sabyasachi sherwani that had regal accents. Held at the magnificent Six Senses Fort Barwara, the varmala ceremony had all the makings of a royal Rajput wedding, down to the glass mandap and bride’s pony-drawn carriage.
The grand wedding feast featured a range of delicacies, from North Indian to Rajasthani dishes, and ended with a stunning multi-tiered cake crafted by Myrra Jhunjhunwala of a Delhi-based bakery. The cake was adorned with flowers and berries, creating a visual and culinary masterpiece.
Approximately 120 guests attended the wedding, with a mix of close family, friends, and notable Bollywood celebrities. The star-studded guest list included, Varun Dhawan, Karan Johar, Alia Bhatt, Rohit Shetty, Anurag Kashyap, Farah Khan, Nitya Mehra, Dr Jewel Gamadia (Katrina’s holistic doctor), Yasmin Karachiwala (her trainer), Amit Thakur (hair stylist), Daniel Bauer (makeup artist), Angad Bedi, Neha Dhupia, Sunny Kaushal’s girlfriend Sharvari Wagh, Kabir Khan, Mini Mathur, Angira Dhar, Shashank Khaitan, Natasha Dalal, Bosco Martis, Anaita Shroff, Aditya Dhar, Hrithik Roshan, Shah Rukh Khan, Akshay Kumar, Neha Dhupia, Angad Bedi, Anushka Sharma, Virat Kohli, Siddharth Malhotra, Kiara Advani amongst others. Singers like Shankar Mahadevan were also invited and Gurdas Mann reportedly performed at their wedding.
The guests were greeted with stringent security arrangements to ensure privacy and exclusivity. The local administration assisted in managing the VIP attendees, ensuring a seamless experience for everyone present. Allegedly Salman Khan’s bodyguard Shera’s security was also provided.
