Aaliya Nensey and Aatef Bham: Inside The Image Code Blogger’s Wedding Festivities

Aaliya Nensey and Aatef Bham: Inside The Image Code Blogger’s Wedding Festivities

Forgoing the traditional wedding schedule, Aaliya Nensey and Aatef Bham hosted a nikaah ceremony almost nine months before their mehandi, sangeet and reception. Scroll ahead to step inside their lavish celebrations.

How It All Started

On November 9, 2017, Nensey got an invite for a client’s launch party at The Taj Mahal Palace, Mumbai. “Tina [Kakkad], my business partner, cancelled last minute because she got sick. But Aatef, whose agency was handling the brand, was going to be there, so I decided to go anyway,” she added. “As soon as I walked into the art gallery, I noticed that the pathway was lined up with rose petals. But inside, it was completely empty. To my pleasant surprise, the space was completely decked with larger-than-life white and black portraits of me on the walls. Then, I saw Aatef standing there with a ring in his hand to pop the question,” she said. The party continued as the duo’s friends and family joined in the revelry. Two months after the proposal, in January 2018, they formally exchanged rings at Tote On The Turf to formalise the relationship.

Bridal Shower

It wouldn’t be a surprise for you all if we tell you that it was Tina, the co-founder of Image Code, who organized this bridal shower party to kickstart Aaliya Nensey’s wedding festivities. Aaliya looked all refreshing and stunning in a baby pink dress by Shriya Som. Her bridal shower was attended by her bridesmaids and mom.

Prayer Ceremony

Aaliya shared some intimate pictures and details of her wedding ceremonies. The festivities kick started with a prayer ceremony, The Image Code Founder Aaliya and her fiance Aatef looked amazingly gorgeous together. Aaliya wore a hand embroidered bandhani outfit in red which was designed by her mother. We have a teary eye already! Who doesn’t want to wear something designed by their mother? Lucky she!

Mehendi Ceremony

Aaliya wore a gorgeous yellow lehenga by Warp n Weft by Sagrika Rai on her mehendi ceremony. Namrata Soni kept her makeup simple yet glamorous and we are all eyes at her stunning bridal look!

Sangeet Ceremony

Aaliya’s wedding sangeet was a LIT affair with Shankar Mahadevan as a star performer. The gorgeous bride wore a stunning maroon lehenga bt Jade by MK. From bride’s solo performance, couple dance to bridesmaid performance, Aaliya’s sangeet had it all.

Nikah

The couple decided to get married in a nikaah ceremony in a mosque in March 2019. “It was such a small yet beautiful ceremony, followed by a dinner party for about 400 guests,” the bride revealed. For her outfit, Nensey eschewed the traditional colour palette for something a little more off-beat. “I don’t consider myself too conventional with my sartorial choices. And I knew I didn’t want to wear red. The first store I visited was Sabyasachi’s and as I walked in, I noticed this outfit almost orphaned at the end of one rack. It was a couture jacket and lehenga. Although it leaned towards a contemporary silhouette, when I tried it on, it was love at first sight,” she told us. The velvet ensemble featured a tapestry of roses interspersed with some geometric motifs and the bride opted for dupattas for her wedding day—“to make it look like a Muslim bridal outfit,” she said.
